Debongout Interview: Co-transporting and Second-hand
24 April 2023

A few months ago, we went to meet Claire Leblond-Faure, founder of the Debongout brand, for a short interview. It was a great opportunity to discover their beautiful showroom in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, where their collection of new and vintage decor and furniture is displayed. We took the chance to look back at the brand’s story, its commitments, and our collaboration, which will soon celebrate its 4th anniversary!
How was Debongout born?
Founded in 2019, Claire started from a very simple idea:
“Today, when I want to furnish my flat, I want to mix new and vintage pieces to create a unique interior that makes more sense.”
It’s clear that at the time, there were no decoration brands offering this mix of second-hand and new furniture.
The brand has since grown by offering unique pieces on its e-commerce site, whether vintage, new, or handmade, that match the way we consume and furnish our homes today.
What are Debongout’s values?
Claire focuses on strong values: transparency, affordability, and meaning.
“We always try to find something local, either through second-hand, through craftsmanship, or through the most environmentally friendly and responsible production systems. And that also applies to delivery!”
These are values that align with Cocolis’ vision. Offering retailers a delivery solution that meets their customers’ ecological expectations.
How does Debongout commit to the circular economy?
Today, Debongout is committed to the circular economy, especially with second-hand, which alone accounts for 40% of its turnover.
They go even further by carefully choosing the materials they use and the artisans they work with. This is the case with one of their latest projects with Emmaüs, Les Résilientes, for pets.
“A collection called Pet sa mère, where we use recycled denim scraps or donated textiles to create leads and accessories for dogs. A collection that’s really something else!”
Why did you choose Cocolis as your delivery solution?
Debongout chose Cocolis as a partner to deliver all their second-hand items. It was an obvious decision, motivated by several reasons.
“Firstly, because it’s very close to our values. It’s an individual delivering to another individual. The private transporter can earn money to help fund a trip they were already planning to take.”
Another advantage of co-transporting that won Claire over is the direct contact between the courier and the customer. It allows for much smoother communication compared to traditional delivery companies.
“And I also think that the couriers are really responsible. They really take care of the parcels we give them. For us, that’s a really important advantage because it guarantees a level of transport quality that’s superb!”
Finally, thanks to this partnership, Debongout can offer its customers very competitive delivery rates, which is essential for their second-hand furniture business.
“Today at Debongout, we offer delivery at €39 anywhere in France, including Corsica. And it’s all thanks to Cocolis!”
The best song for a road trip?
Without hesitation, Claire’s top pick for a road trip song:
“It’s Jocelyn Brown – Somebody else’s guy.”
Ultimately, this collaboration has enabled Debongout to offer a quality delivery service at an attractive price, while staying true to its values.
You too can offer your customers an affordable and eco-friendly delivery service!
