Parcel carpooling with Cocolis.fr

25 January 2016

Nowadays, it’s so easy to rent a holiday home or a car from a private individual… So why shouldn’t it be just as simple to have a parcel, piece of furniture or item transported by a private individual? Well, it actually exists, and it’s called parcel carpooling, also known as crowdshipping or ‘parcel carpooling’ as featured in the France 2 report.

Parcel carpooling has several advantages. By connecting people who need to send an item with those who have space in their boot or suitcase, it encourages eco-friendly (fewer vehicles on the road), economical and social practices. In the end, everyone benefits: some pay less to send their parcel and others make their journey profitable, while doing a good deed.

Today, parcel carpooling was in the spotlight on France 2 and our site Cocolis.fr was chosen to illustrate the topic. The journalist preferred to use the term “parcel carpooling”* but don’t be mistaken, it’s definitely Cocolis.fr you see on screen.

We are delighted to share with you this extract from the 1pm news with Elise Lucet 🙂

*Colis-voiturage.fr is a website offering collaborative delivery and invented the term “parcel carpooling” or “parcel ridesharing”.
