Scams or fraud: how to avoid them?
10 January 2022

We have recently been alerted to new scams circulating online. It is possible that malicious individuals are using the name Cocolis to deceive their victims.
That’s why we think it’s useful to give you some tips to help you know if you’re dealing with a scammer.
Scam: what should I watch out for?
On Cocolis, as on all other sites where you interact with individuals (Leboncoin, Facebook Marketplace, Vinted, etc.), it’s important to follow certain rules to protect yourself from scams or fraud.
Your personal information
On Cocolis, as generally on the internet, it is essential never to share your personal information with third parties. We also recommend that you only communicate with others through Cocolis’s secure messaging system to avoid any incidents.
Under no circumstances should you give your bank card details and/or a payment authentication code to anyone else. Even your bank will never ask you for this code! So there’s no reason to give it to anyone else!
Cocolis will never ask you to provide your information outside of our payment page.
Be extremely wary of anyone asking you for payment codes, PCS codes, and immediately end the conversation.
Email addresses
As far as Cocolis is concerned, we will always contact you from email addresses ending with @cocolis.fr (for example: [email protected]).
Any other email address, even if it contains the word cocolis, if it does not end with @cocolis.fr, is not in any way linked to the company Cocolis.
Be careful to check the sender’s email address and not just the sender’s name, which can be freely chosen!
Cocolis will always contact you with an email address ending in @cocolis.fr.
Financial transactions
On Cocolis, payments are made on the site and securely via our payment provider Mangopay (Crédit Mutuel Arkéa).
Similarly, all insurance options for parcel transport via Cocolis are selected at the time of booking and secure payment on the platform.
Cocolis does not offer any insurance outside of its website and secure payment is only made on www.cocolis.fr by credit card.
How do I know if I’m dealing with a scam?
Are you in one or more of the following situations?
- I was asked for my bank card numbers or my secret code
- I receive long emails, full of spelling mistakes and which seem pre-formatted
- I am contacted from an email address that makes no sense or does not seem official
- I am asked to pay a large sum outside of an official website
- I am asked to pay by a method other than secure payment on the site
If you find yourself in any of the situations listed above, you are probably the victim of a scam.
We encourage you to stop communicating with the person and to report the profile on the platform through which you were put in contact as soon as possible.
