Cocolis and the circular economy: consuming differently, transporting smartly
At Cocolis, our mission is clear: making co-transportation a habit for everyone. But what we do goes far beyond logistics: we are actively involved in the circular economy. Here’s why.
What is the circular economy?
The circular economy is a sustainable economic model that contrasts with the traditional linear pattern of “produce – consume – throw away”. It offers another path: reduce, reuse, recycle.
Rather than producing more and more, the circular economy aims to extend the lifespan of objects, avoid waste and limit rubbish. This model is gradually establishing itself as a concrete response to the ecological crisis and overconsumption.
In France, the concept has become widely popular in recent years, especially thanks to digital technology.
Digital technology, an accelerator for the circular economy
Platforms like Leboncoin, Backmarket, Vinted, RecycleLivre and Label Emmaüs are living proof: more and more consumers are choosing to resell, buy second-hand or give their items a second life.
According to Marc Lolivier, General Delegate of Fevad:
“Online shoppers are in the midst of an ecological transition. […] 45% of them have already bought a product from the circular economy on the internet.”
A deep-rooted trend that is changing our consumption habits. Buying a second-hand piece of furniture, a refurbished phone or a vintage dress is becoming a civic act. And for this economy to work, we need coherent transport solutions.
Cocolis: transport at the service of the circular economy
Cocolis was born from this logic. It all started with Eliette, founder of the platform, who found the perfect second-hand chest of drawers on Leboncoin… but it was in Lille, while she lived in Paris. The cost of transport was higher than the price of the furniture: absurd in the age of carpooling!
That’s how the idea was born: allowing everyone to send items via already planned journeys, by sharing the free space in a boot or car. The result: fewer vehicles on the road, less CO2, more mutual help.
Cocolis, partner of the circular economy
Today, Cocolis is a key player in the circular economy:
- A quarter of our users come from the Leboncoin website
- More than 5,000 tonnes of CO2 saved in one year
- Thousands of items transported every week, all over France
By making it easier to deliver second-hand items, we help reduce the environmental impact of transport, support purchasing power and encourage more responsible consumption.

In summary
The circular economy is not just an idea: it’s a concrete practice, already at work. And at Cocolis, we’re proud to be part of it. With every parcel transported on an already planned journey, it’s a win for your wallet, the planet, and for items that get a second life.
